Reply with all your cats all together in the same post. the gathering The full moon glittered dangerously, sending an eerie glow down onto the forest. One Clan was already waiting at the clearing, their brown tabby leader perched up on his rock. Soft chatter came from the cats, though their main attention was on the borders of the other two Clans.
There were many things to discuss. Flicking his tail, Rootstar let out a sigh. There was so much danger, and so much hunger. His cats were thin, and would only get thinner. He was worried.
Cats in the clearing swiveled their head at the sound of pawsteps. BirdClan had appeared, Openstar leading the group. His light gray pelt streaked beside his Clan, then weaved through the cats. SwampClan parted, their eyes suspicious as the second leader hopped up beside their own.
"Hello, Openstar." The tabby tom murmured to the newly arrived leader, nodding his head in respect. Openstar returned the nodd, but not the words. He looked troubled.
Some cats began to intermingle, though shyly. Most cats clumped together, in groups of their own Clan, throwing fugitive glances over their shoulder at the other Clan. Tension was in the air. Now, they were just waiting for GrassClan.
-x-
Adderpaw winded through the cats, his tail twitching with excitement. His first gathering! The SwampClan smells were over powering, and actually a little disgusting, but he was too excited to care. Some of the other warriors had warned him not to wander far, but heck, he never listened to them anyways.
-x-
Mintleaf hissed, glaring at the SwampClan apprentice who had adventured too close to where the medicine cat was laying. The apprentice quickly backed up, fur fluffing. "Sorry." It muttered, before turning tail and winding back into the crowd.
Snorting, the old tabby turned her head to glare at a group of elders, gathered together and gossiping. Too bad most of the other Clan cats disliked her, otherwise she might go and mingle with her fellow old cats.
Bah, who was she kidding? She had no respect for elders. All they did was lay around, get fed, and complain about their bones. Mintleaf's bones worked just fine, and she older then half the elders.

The brown tabby glanced over at her medicine cat and shook her head. Mintleaf is such a handful. She thought with a chuckle and Riverstar stood up onto her paws, padding over to Rootstar. "Good evening." She mewed softly, bowing her head in respect. "A perfect night for a Gathering, don't you think?
[/color]" She said with a slight smile. Shadowstripe stood with his clan, glancing around. This was pretty much his first time at a Gathering and he was a bit excited about the whole thing, but he kept it under control. The tuxedo tom took a seat, curling his tail around his large frame. He fixed his gaze on the ground, but stayed attentive to everything that was going on.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/color]

Another Gathering. This was sure to be an interesting one - StarClan’s seeming disappearance, coupled with the usual leaf-bare tension of too little prey, would lead to some interesting conversations. Ashfall, for one, was more curious than nervous to see how the other Clans were faring. Were their bones as painfully obvious as some in BirdClan? Ashfall felt that she was lucky, her thicker-than-average pelt disguising her thin frame. Strangely, the she-cat didn’t feel as cold as she ought to have during a winter night; perhaps it was a combination of her thick fur and the adrenaline that coursed through her veins that kept Ashfall warm.
Leisurely making her way down to the tall stones, underneath of which cats intermingled, it suddenly occurred to the warrior that she ought to pass on some Gathering etiquette to her apprentice, Nightpaw. The young apprentice should already know the basic principle of respect, but Ashfall was worried that Nightpaw might forget it in the excitement of a Gathering. With a rueful smile, Ashfall recalled her own early Gatherings - she had been so eager to meet the other warriors that she had forgotten everything her mentor had told her before they had left camp, and made a veritable fool of herself.
Ashfall didn’t want Nightpaw to embarrass herself as Ashfall once had, so without another thought the she-cat set off with a new sense of purpose, both looking and scenting for her apprentice.

Icypelt narrowed her eyes at Shadowstripe, the tip of her tail twitching as she spotted the deputy of BirdClan, formerly of SwampClan. Traitor! she thought furiously, but forced herself to calm down. Though she didn't like the BirdClan deputy due to his betrayal of her Clan, she could never start anything at a Gathering; save that for a battle. Snorting, she padded far away from him and sat down, waiting for the leaders to begin speaking.
---
Mallowpelt spotted Mintleaf of GrassClan and purred; half from amusement, and half from fondness for the elderly she-cat. He pricked his ears, listening for the usual hum of conversation between cats of the three Clans. His left ear twitched slightly as he sensed the distress that emanated from virtually every cat at Three Stones. Tension thickened the air. Every Clan was worried about the lack of prey, it seemed, as he has guessed. Such suffering even before leaf-bare has truly begun, he thought. It's not normal, and it's a very bad sign.
Sighing, he padded over to Mintleaf, wondering if his fellow medicine cat would tolerate his presence.

{ what about the thrid leader? }
{ watersong } with GRASSCLAN { verse one ` } stepping lightly she followed her clan to the gathering. She was looking forward to this gathering, it would be itneresting to see what the other clans where doing. Moving away from Mintleaf she headed towards the other warriors, feeling someone push into her, made her stumble a few paw steps. Letting a low growl her eyes searched for the careless feline. Narrowing her eyes she saw the scarp of fur, she believed her name was Nightpaw. A apprentice who needed to grow up and get a life. Letting the boil from her scent settle back into her thoaght she pushed her way towards her clan.
{ nightpaw } with BIRDCLAN { quote one ` } growing at the she-cat that appeared in her way, she darted around her, heading towards Adderpaw. Bounding closer she pushed her shoulders back and leaped, landing right beside him. Can you believe it? Its like our first gathering, like oh my starclans (omsc XD) I just can't believe it, we are finally here. I am like jumping out of my skin. she purred, her blue eyes live with excitment. Exect some stupid Grassclan cat tried to run me over she growled.

The moon was a large silver circle in the sea of dark blue. It glowed upon the clans. The solid black tom sat isolated from everyone. He was close to his clan. A frown printed on his face. This was all too familiar. Ravenstrike had been to many gatherings but he had always been a warrior. The tom hadn't been to many gatherings as a deputy.
It was much colder at night. Things seemed to happen so fast at night. Or maybe it was just Ravenstrike. A heavy sigh erupted from his vocals. Boredom slowly sunk inside of him as a cold breeze brushed his pelt. He looked at Riverstar. The she-cat's pelt was light brown with darker tabby markings. Her eyes were her most attractive feature at this time. The iris was a stunning blue, green.
&hearts &hearts &hearts Smallflower slightly shook in the cold. She missed being in the warrior's den surrounded by warm bodies. Her light green orbs scanned the landscape. The grass rustled in the light waves of air. Her body had stopped shaking soon. She had gotten used to the cold. Her small body arose and found herself next to another she-cat (Ashfall). The female was a pale gray with white. The other female's coat sparkled in the moonlight. "Hello." Smallflower spoke to the she-cat very softly. She was awaiting a hiss as a reply.

the gathering The scent of tansy and marigold filled her nose, and Mintleaf blinked. That was, of course, a medicine cat's scent. "Mallowpelt." She mewed in welcome, a thin gleam of friendliness in her typically cold eyes. While the old tabby had no liking for any of the other Clan cats, the other med cats were an exception.
"Are you still finding horsetails in the ditches?" There was no hostility in her tone, and actually, she was relatively interested. There were some horsetails crowded on part of their stream, but after the first frost, several of them wilted quickly.
-x-
"I know!" Adderpaw purred. Nightpaw had joined him, and she was just as excited as him, but that was no surprise. Seriously, what apprentice wouldn't be excited for their first Gathering? "This is amazing!" His attention darted to the Three Rocks, were the leaders were now.
Whiskers twitching, he leaned closer to the white she-cat and asked, "Do you think they'll start soon?"
-x-
As if he was answering Adderpaw's question, Rootstar raised his head and let out a howl. "Let this Gathering begin!" He said, his proud eyes admiring the surrounding. All the cats had arrived, and the moon was bright in the sky. Perfect time to start. "Openstar?" He prompted.
The light grey tom stepped forward, with a nod at Rootstar. "Thankyou." Turning to face the cats, the leader spoke, "BirdClan has a new deputy." There was a pause, and harsh whisper spread through the cats. "Shadowstripe serves his Clan proudly." A few cats hissed- SwampClan's cats mostly.
Openstar took no notice, even as Rootstar gazed through narrowed eyes down at the deputy. The tabby wasn't sure how trusty worthy the rogue really was. He could only hope Openstar had made a wise decision. "We also have two more apprentices with us. Nightpaw, and Adderpaw."
Adderpaw felt like he would explode, as he puffed out his chest joyfully. Cats purred in congratulations all around him, making his head woozy with pride.
As Openstar took a step back, Rootstar thanked him, and began himself. "SwampClan has not much to report. We chased a fox out of our territory more then half a moon ago, and haven't seen it since." Bowing his head torwards Riverstar, he relinquished the stage to her.

Icypelt hissed her disapproval as Shadowstripe was announced as BirdClan's deputy. A cat like him can't be trusted, she thought. She watched Rootstar's reaction, and saw with approval that he was not pleased to hear Openstar's news, either. How could any cat betray the Clan of their birth, and so calmly take such a place in another Clan? she wondered. Surely StarClan would have shown their disapproval? She lashed her tail as she remembered StarClan's silence. Perhaps the only reason he became deputy is because StarClan couldn't speak against it, she thought.
--- Mallowpelt dipped his head to Mintleaf. As his elder, and for her skill as a medicine cat, he respected her. However, as the leaders began to speak, he couldn't reply; he would speak with her when the Gathering came to a close. He flicked his ears as he listened to other cats, mostly SwampClan, hissing as Shadowstripe was announced as the deputy of BirdClan. Though they have been silent, StarClan would approve of Shadowstripe, he thought, without a trace of doubt. He's a good warrior, loyal to his Clan. Loyalty is not determined by birth. He shook his head as he spotted the distinctive pelt of the SwampClan warrior, Icypelt, and saw her lashing tail and narrowed eyes. Such displays are not for Gatherings.

Ashfall’s quest was abruptly cut short by surge of felines as they gathered near the three stones where the leaders perched. Twitching her whiskers in annoyance, the she-cat let loose a small sigh and settled down where she was; there was no way she could find Nightpaw now. I’ll just locate her later, after the leaders have given their reports. Ashfall relaxed, content with her new mission.
The buzz of cats around her was monotonous, only occasionally broken by an excitable mew from an apprentice or a laugh from the circle of gossiping elders. Body language told so much more - almost all of the wandering cats were tense, scanning the crowd as if they believed a volatile warrior might dare break the truce of the full moon. Ashfall shook her head sadly; the she-cat believed that it was only when the Clans could tolerate each other that StarClan would return to them. As for the unbelievers, Ashfall could only say good riddance. If you don’t believe in StarClan, how can you choose to live in the Clans?.
Ashfall’s ponderings was unexpectedly cut off with a soft mew coming from her side. The she-cat blinked once in surprise, then regained her composure enough to murmur a quiet greeting in reply, “Hello to you too.” Friendliness. That was startling, especially from a feline with the scent of SwampClan. The relations between the two Clans were rather edgy, considering Shadowstripe was the deputy of BirdClan.
The warrior was poised to introduce to the other she-cat, but then the call for the beginning of the Gathering came, and Ashfall regretfully turned to look up at the leaders. Now it was time to see if the cats could truly hold the peace of StarClan.

Shadowstripe's head lowered, his eyes partially closing. It was as if he was letting it affect him. I'll prove to them that Openstar made the right decision. The tom looked back up, not looking anyone in the eyes. He began to feel uneasy, knowing that Rootstar was watching him.
Riverstar stepped forward, giving a nod to Rootstar. Her gaze drifted down for a split second, wondering if she should bring up their issue back in their territory. "All is well here in GrassClan. There is not much to report from our end.
" She spoke, deciding against her thoughts. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/color]

Willowbreeze sat down beside Ashfall, a Birdclan cat like her, even though she didn't truly know the she-cat. She patiently sat and watched as the leaders before her continued to speak.
Her eyes passed over Shadowstripe and she purred softly. She didn't know why everyone hated that he was now Birdclan's deputy. Loyalties were not decided by birth, she knew quite a few cats who had swapped clans and were now loyal warriors who served their new clans with no regret. She personally liked Shadowstripe, and knew that he would help protect Birdclan beside all of the other warriors.
Slowly Willowbreeze tore her eyes from Shadowstripe and looked once more to the leaders. Openstar, her leader, had just announced that Shadowstripe was their deputy, and that they had new apprentices, Nightpaw and Adderpaw. She smiled sightly as she thought of how close the two cats had gotten already. They were in some ways exact opposites, but in others they were nearly identical.
Willowbreeze peered at the Grassclan leader, Riverstar, as the she-cat stepped forward and told of how Grassclan was doing fine. She growled softly as she heard this as some of the Grassclan cats around her didn't /look/ fine at all, but then again neither did many of the Birdclan cats either. She stiffened as she thought of how the prey loss had only been allowing her to catch one or two birds before going back to camp when she normally had been able to go back with more. She hated that the cats around her were hungry, but was glad that she was still in good enough shape to continue hunting for her clan and hopefully ensuring that everyone was able to eat.

the gathering Flicking his tail, Rootstar inwardly sighed with relief. Riverstar had nothing to announce, and with that, the Gathering could end. No battles, no fights, nothing. Just a smooth full moon and an unbroken peace. Even if StarClan wasn't listening, Rootstar thanked them under his breathe.
"Alright," The long haired tabby tom said, loud enough for all the cats to hear him, "then with that, the Gathering-"
He didn't get to finish. The cats in the audience over powered his voice, with their own yowls of fright. The leader froze, confused, as the clearing was suddenly bathed in darkness. Turning his gaze up, Rootstar murmured with horror, "Oh no."
The moon was completely covered by a cloud.
"Is StarClan mad?" Adderpaw meowed weakly, his own eyes stretched wide with alarm. Even though this was his first gathering, the gray tom knew what the cloud meant- every cat did. But the Gathering was just about to end! What could StarClan be mad about?
Creamfur. Mintleaf thought with distaste, her eyes searching the heavens above. What ever was that idiotic apprentice of her's thinking? In fact, what was all of StarClan thinking? Sending a cloud to block the moon... what for? What had been said? No, if something had been said, the cloud would have been sent earlier.
It didn't make any sense. Ears folding back, the medicine cat glanced around the clearing, where cats were already hissing at each other. They all were so fast to past the blame. Whippersnappers. The old cat thought sourly, her fur bristling.
Something was horribly wrong.

Willowbreeze flinched back instinctively as a cloud covered the moon. The moon being covered was a way that Starclan showed their anger, but why was Starclan angry? She didn't think that anything had been done or said to entice Starclan's anger. 'Could something /not/ have been said then?' Willowbreeze thought with a dawning horror. Nothing had been said to entice Starclan's anger, but then again not much had been said at all. She knew for one that Openstar, her leader, had not announced anything about the rapid loss of prey. She knew that it was leaf-bare but that did not account to how much prey had been lost already. There had always been enough prey to go around, even in leaf-bare, but this time there wasn't.
Willowbreeze looked around the clearing and recognized the signs of hunger in many of the cats around her, cats from all of the different clans. She herself was thinner than normal, but she wasn't nearly as thin as some of the other cats around her, the other cats from, not just Birdclan, but from Grassclan and Swampclan as well.

Soon the pretense of peace will be over, Ashfall thought with a relieved mental sigh. She wanted to go home, to her warm nest underneath the great tree. The she-cat relaxed as the leaders spoke their customary ‘all is well’ speeches, believing this to be a gathering like any other. They came, they lied, they left. That’s just how gatherings were.
Eyes expectantly on Rootstar as he proclaimed the ending of the gathering, Ashfall noticed with a start when the three stones were abruptly blanketed in darkness. Snapping her head upwards, Ashfall’s muzzle parted softly in fearful surprise as she glimpsed the moon shrouded by clouds. StarClan was angry with them. The thought barely registered in Ashfall’s mind before she sprang to her feet - the warriors were going to be scared, and scared cats tended to fight in panic. The she-cat wasn’t about to stay on the ground and be a sitting duck for frightened claws to make their mark.
Gaze steady on her surroundings, Ashfall nimbly made her way through the hissing cats to be closer to her leader. If another Clan cat was going to attack Openstar, she wasn’t about to let her leader go down. Strategically selecting her position close to the BirdClan leader, Ashfall surveyed the scene with her well-known calmness. It was then that a terrifying thought momentarily made Ashfall go numb. Nightpaw. Her apprentice was in that swarm of alarmed felines, and Ashfall didn’t know what to do.
She had a choice - stay and protect Openstar, or venture into the mass of cats to locate Nightpaw. It took a moment’s hesitation, but with a gaze filled with apology directed at her leader, Ashfall took off into the crowd. Ashfall was going to find the young she-cat and do what she had promised to do when she took on Nightpaw as an apprentice - look after her.

Icypelt's think fur bristled, and she looked like a vengeful ghost in the sudden darkness. Her pale pink eyes were fixed on the sky above, where the full moon's glow was being swallowed by the dark cloud. What is StarClan angry about? she wondered fearfully. Fear scorched her spine and she fought down the urge to turn tail and run. Raising her chin in a look that was more belligerent than brave, she silently challenged the cats around her to stay calm. She knew she had to; if she didn't stay calm, she was bound to race away into the trees like a frightened rabbit. Fear-scent swamped her senses like a thick pelt, and her mind went numb under the smothering weight.
Swallowing hard, she looked at the masses of cats around her. Spotting a young white apprentice surrounded by much larger warriors, she felt a brief pulse of concern. Shocked, she wondered, Have I gone mad? Worrying about an apprentice from another Clan? Still, she couldn't shake the worry that dogged her, especially when she noticed Ashfall of BirdClan, her startlingly blue eyes wide with concern. Is that her apprentice? Icypelt wondered. I want to help, but they're cats from another Clan! It goes against the warrior code!
Coolly, Icypelt forced away the feelings of guilt and worry that plagued her. She had more important things to worry about than cats from other Clans! Using the same logic that had saved her heart and mind after her mother had died, she reasoned that it was best not to care about other cats; that way, if you lost them, it wouldn't hurt so bad.
((Maybe she should've been called Icyheart. o.o;))
---
Mallowpelt felt a prickling of alarm, but he immediately raised his muzzle to the sky, letting all of his senses reach out towards the sign that hung above the heads of all the Clans. He knew from experience that it was best not to force knowledge, but to let it come to him of its own will, to let it flow through his mind as energy flowed through his body, and so he forced the alarm away and paid attention only to the sign, and waited for words or more signs from StarClan. So focused was he on the sign above that he did not even realize how the other cats in the clearing were reacting to the message. Mintleaf's bristling fur brushed his own thick coat, but he did not react, only wondering briefly if she was making any more sense of this strange sign than he was. What are you telling us, StarClan? he asked silently. Are you angry with us for lying about the state of our Clans?
