name ; lightkit
lightpaw lightfoot
age ; thirty six moons [ t h r e e y e a r s ] gender ; tom clan ; swampclan rank ; warrior description ; a lnky, long legged tom, with dark, chocolate tabby-point siamese markings. original photo ; > .click. < personality ; calm, sedate, careful
lightfoot earned his name not because of his personality or appearance – he is doesn't have a 'footy' appearance, nor does he have light feet – but through his ability as a mouser. if there's something the tom takes pride in then it is his ability when he hunts to do so quietly; and with a light footedness that comes from a patient, calm and rather quiet nature. that and he's terribly careful where he puts his feet. he trod on enough thorns as a kit to learn that lesson. in fact, he's rather careful about most things. he's careful about how he speaks, because he doesn't want to insult anyone; he's careful about how he hunts, because he doesn't want to take too much prey back; he's careful about how he treats others, especially those of a higher rank. but his caution is hardly a bad thing, and has kept him from danger his entire life.
but he is a calm cat. nothing much sets him off, and his temper is never stirred unless it's something incredibly drastic. but he's never scared of anything either, and he doesn't often look excited. most of the time he looks bored, inanimate, uninterested. lightfoot likes his quiet life, with nothing much happening and no one paying attention to him; nothing bad ever happens to him. his dedication to the clan means that he will put himself in danger, but only for the clan, or for others, and never to prove anything. he doesn't feel the need to prove himself - he catches his fair share of prey for the fresh kill pile and he's obedient to a fault when it concerns the clan, what more does he have to prove? history ; he was born a cat of three, being the middle one at that. out of them he was the lightest, and with nothing else to really make him stand out, he was named lightkit. he was a particularly quiet kit, and he barely caused his mother - Silverfrost - any trouble at all, even when he was old enough to leave the den and play outside. he didn't do much playing anyway. he preferred sitting with the elders and listening to their stories of the days when prey was plentiful, and when they could catch bats out of mid air. he was a boring kitten, one the others didn't really like, and he in turn had very little to do with his litter mates at all.
the naming ceremony of him and his siblings was...boring. even for him. while his brother and sister could not wait to become apprentices, to learn the ways of the warriors they adored, lightpaw – as he was known then – was not. he just wanted to sit with the elders and listen to them. but he did as he was told, and when the time came he was accepted as a warrior without a hitch, proving to be a good hunter, but very little in the way of a fighter. still, why bother fighting when you can keep the rest of the clan fed? or at least that was how he viewed it.
in the first two moons of his time as a warrior two major things happened. one was that his sister, as lovely as she was, and brave, was killed. she wandered too far into the twoleg place, trying to prove her worth to a tom she liked, and was killed by a dog. one cat said they'd seen the body be buried, but no one went to check. the death only secured the place's reputation as dangerous. after that he received his first apprentice. the kitten was more then enough for the tom, and as a result, he spent a moon longer then usual teaching him. whispers and taunts were spread, but lightfoot didn't care so long as the she-cat managed to become a warrior – and she did.
