Sup, fellow TCAers.
I decided that contests are always fun. So, thus the creation of the Contest Board!
This is the first contest. -clears throat-
Rules 1. One entry per person. 2. Four paragraphs minimum. 3. Post your entry on this thread, once you've finished it. 4. Can be a segment of a story, or a whole short story. Can also be original or based off another prexisting fiction. 5. Literacy will be factored in, but any spiffying up of the post you may do will not help you win. (it won't hurt, though)
The Challenge Write a story (or a part of a story) which starts with the following sentence :
The most creative, interesting, awe-inspiring, or entertaining entry will win.
The winner will be decided on the 12th of December, and a new contest will start up the following monday.
But wait! That's not all!
Prizes Oh yes, there shall be prizes. First place gets to pick what prize they want. Second place gets a color change for their name unless they already have one, which in that case they get a cartoon cat.
Prizes to be selected from 1. Color change for your name. (like mine, Turp's, and Saki's) 2. A cartoon cat of your character, drawn by me. 3. A signature/avatar for you.
Oh, and the person who wins the most contests between now and February gets to pick the theme behind the next skin.(:
Private message me any questions.

The world was spinning.
It particularly unexpected, just late, and it made her squeal as it happened, the bird she'd been watching becoming a smudge across a blue sky that became her entire world. The green scratchy bits around the edges was just the frame to something bigger, something better something magical. Thin clouds moved faster and faster around a point in the sky that became her center, her point of being. That was where her eyes fell as the rest of her world became lines, pushed along and becoming like the lines on a basket ball as it spun on someone's finger. It was...thrilling. It made her scream, and squeal, and laugh in delight, and then fear as she felt herself slip down, closer to the little scratchy bits around the edges that were trees.
"Oh god! Oh god, oh god, oh god stop! I'm gonna fall off, I'm gonna fall off" she screamed, laughing despite the fear, too excited to really try and slap the legs to one side of her, the ones that were running to keep her moving. They didn't stop, and as she wrapped one ankle around the metal bar near her foot, she squealed as her hair fell off, flying out to the side as her friends merely laughed and threw daisies at her. The white flower his her face, her center point being taken over by the yellow spot that she almost mistook for the sun, screaming as she screwed her eyes shut. Only when she opened them that round, dimpled sun was gone, and only the blue, cloudless sky remained.
Her world was spinning, spinning spining, and despite the sickness she could feel creeping along her throat, she never wanted it to stop. Nothing mattered but staying on when you were like this, and everything else became a rapid blur but you. You could focus on nothing but your own being, nothing but that little bit of you that made you, well, you. It was like...a form of meditation, this spinning, and for a while you were the only weightless thing in the universe. Forget the moon, forget the sun, clouds, birds, everything. It was just you and that center point of blue, the one that was never changing, the only still part in your line of vision.
But the world had to catch up with you sometime. "Guys, guys I feel sick, really, really sick. I'm gonna projectiole vomit all over you, and it'll spray everywhere, unless you stop right now!" she laughed, screeching as it did suddenly stop, letting go of the bar to slide off the edge and hit her head on the tarmac ground. Her friends laughed, and a pile of grass was drumped on her face, leaving her to cough and splutter, spit and scream, as she stumbled to her feet to chase after them. Who knew what had been on that grass! Some animal could have gone to the loo on it, and it was in her mouth! They at least had the decency to run away screaming like the little girls they were as she stumbled and hobbled after them like a member of the undead.
The world was still spinning.
word count; 537 idea; a roundabout, the ones in a playground notes; rubbish, but it's there ;D

The world was spinning...
Will it ever stop? I thought to myself as I let out another blood-curdling scream. I wanted off of this demon machine and I wanted off now.
It was a beautiful day and my brother decided to take me to the Annual State Fair to have some last minute weekend fun. We weren't the only ones though; his girlfriend and her daughter Jasmine came with us. It took forever to get into the park where the fair was held and it was almost nightfall, but luckily, we were able to fid a parking space. So, we purchased our admission ticket and got our ticket bracelets, which are an alternative to use for the rides instead of buying millions upon millions of tickets.
Before we split though, we went to a ride called the Zipper. It looked fun and I had a slight adrenaline rush go through me. I so wanted to ride this! I thought excitedly, but I would regret it later.
If you have never heard of this ride, it is somewhat like a zipper, hence the name. The "cages" look like the little pieces your zipper zip together on a jacket or coat, and they flip around as you go in circles on the main machine.
The line got shorter and shorter, and my rush just grew. I couldn't contain my excitement. It was finally my turn and I got into a cage with Jasmine. My only thought was, "Please, don't break," since the machine looked a little old. I pushed my thoughts away as soon as the machine started up and I regretted ever getting on this thing. Flip and flip, spin after spin, I felt like the world was spinning all too quickly for me. Scream after scream, I cried to get off. Jasmine tried to flip our cage when she stopped. and I snapped at her. I didn't mean to, of course, but I was scared out of my mind. When we finally got off, I was so happy to be back on solid ground again. It felt so good. I swear to God I would never get back on that demon ride anymore while I was still there.

The world was spinning.
Round and round and round she went, vertigo threatening to take over her senses. She was strong, she had to be strong. Exactly twenty-three lives rested on her shoulders; if she screwed this up, they died. Clenching her teeth, she savagely pulled the steering wheel to a hard right, tumbling out of her spiral. Swiftly she engaged the manual drive of her Class 4-F11 fighter jet, bringing the powerful jet under her own control. Atmosphere burned around her, visible through the clear glass atop of the aircraft. Veins of striking gold, pale blue and brilliant white streaked her windows, and for a second the pilot lost her focus, staring out as the heavens passed her by.
The sharp buck of the plane brought her back to reality; she needed to get in, get the hostages, and get out. She here on a mission - if the repulsive PLANTs (or Precognizant Living Animalistic Nano-Tubules) got their roots on the captives… with a grim shake of her head, the pilot attempted to clear her mind of the unpleasant thoughts. This war, a deadly consequence of the latest agricultural innovations, had quite literally pitted man against nature, a fight that was destined to be hopeless from the start. Forced to retreat into the vast, empty void of space, every day was a struggle to survive, their bountiful Earth gone.
With that loss had brought so much change - armed humans regularly had to journey to the place they used to call home to gather food and water, two commodities that they previously took for granted. But Mother Nature had reclaimed her earth, protecting her children from man, the destroyers of all things sacred. And if she caught humans trying to steal from her bounty… the PLANTs rarely left survivors.
The pilot could just barely make out the greenery that symbolized life - and death. She was a trained professional, and had undergone several raids before. However, each time a sudden wave of sadness overwhelmed her as she stared down at the beauty beneath. This is why she had signed up for this dangerous job; for that fleeting glimpse of natural splendor.
You never really know what you have until you lose it.
-- Short, yes, but I didn't really want there to be an end to this story. xD
